Garden Furniture Care

Supremo-Bari-6-Seater-close-upGarden furniture makes entertaining and relaxing outdoors a real joy, and regular care and maintenance should mean that it will last for many years. Our simple care guide will keep yours in top condition, so you will always be prepared for those spur of the moment parties!

If you have beautiful wooden furniture, the first job is to give it a thorough scrub with a bowl of warm, soapy water – once cleaned it should be allowed to dry thoroughly.

Softwood furniture should then be treated to a coat of quality wood preservative, hardwood furniture is very durable and does not necessarily require a preservative, however to improve its appearance you could rub in teak oil or apply a water-based wood stain.

All other materials, such as aluminium and resin, generally require simple cleaning with warm, soapy water and a soft brush.

Rattan furniture can also be cleaned using a soft brush and a bucket of warm soapy water to remove any dirt and then rinsed down with clear water. The glass table tops can be polished with any suitable glass cleaner and the cushions are zipped so that the fabric can be easily removed and hand washed or dry cleaned.

Don’t forget – whatever type of table top you have, help to protect surfaces from scratching and marking by always using trivets and place mats.

This is a guide only – always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions!

And in the Winter, if you don’t have the space to store your furniture inside, then it’s essential to use good quality protective covers to keep the worst of the weather at bay.
